Paper

Hand made paper is an area of total fascination for me. This fascination was first kindled upon visiting Griffen Mill where Chris and Mike Gibbs have been making impeccable papers for decades. Handmade paper strikes me as part science, part art, part craft and it was fascinating to see the number of variables and inputs and process from start to finish.

Through the FPBA I learnt of Henry Moore of The Bird & Bull Press. Now sadly deceased I am lucky to have copy #46/500 of Omnibus written by Henry in 1967. This book is a beautiful overview of all the stages of paper making and includes letters sent between Mr. Moore and J. B. Green of Hayle Mill in Maidstone (Kent).
